Many a factor repelled tourists from visiting this part of India which is very good in scenic beauty. Major factor was lack of good hotels and resorts. Now to some extent this haddicap is nullified by the services rendered by 'Home Stay' facilities. And an airport is also coming up in the district which will be a real ipetus to tourism industry to this vista region.
HOME STAY
It is increasingly popular these days with lot of people with hospitality mentality coming with this novel idea of 'home stay." This is particulary so in and around Tellichery. Tellicherry is a place where you will encounter pople who take pride in speaks 'Queens English,' even when rest of the world apes American English.

The beach is serene and silent except murmur of ocean waves kissing its shores. Upto 2 pm and after 6 pm there is no local tourist activity at all. Local tourist frequent this beach only in the evening hours. So most of the the time beach appears to be as a private beach. Imagine a beach which stretches for 4 kilometers with very less human activities. There is also the majestic view of Darmadom Island which overlooks this beach on the south.
Darmadom once a great Buddhist Center has a beautiful Island formed at the mouth of Anjarakandy River. This river was the main transit point of pepper which was cultivated all along its banks. Vengad has the credit of producing the best quality black pepper in the whole world even to this date.

TELLICHERRY
It is the 'karma mandala' of great Scotish Officer who took pride working in Telicherry. He had given explicit description of the lifestyle of people in this part of Malabar in his historical book tittled ""Malabar Manual" (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Logan_(en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William LoganMalabar_Manual))
This is the place where Indians played cricket for the first time. It is not Mumbai or Chennai, but it is this sleepy little town.
Tellicherry also has many credits to its name, it was the Abode of Hermann Gundert who wrote the fist Malayalam-English dictionary. It is the craddle of Indian Circus and so on.
